I totally agree with you about the directionality of where VR might seem to be headed. I think this is only because the technology is advancing and progressing because there are a handful of companies that are pumping their own money investing in the future.

I hope in a few years once virtual reality sees the paradigm shift in the world it will move to a kind of anarchy like the web. I read a few articles about using blockchain technology to publish and save worlds in virtual reality.
